Generations of bonding

Such a wonderful sight to see my kiddo bonding with my grandmother.

Sometimes,I get upset thinking that my kiddo's childhood would be missing the beauty of rural India,which we enjoyed as kids..I remember that as kids,we used to get super excited about visiting my granny's house in our village.It was a lake side village which hardly had the government bus facility,leave alone railway connection.But,still the thought of travelling all the way from Vizag to my granny's place was nothing less of an expedition for us.
We used to eagerly wait for summer vacations to make this month long trip a memorable one.The village had very few large houses and my grandpa's house was a huge house which had a large Verandah with pink painted pillars all around the verandah and this was where we used to while away the scorching afternoons.The pathway adjoining the verandah had exotic smelling plants like the nightqueen,Jasmine,gulmohar and other variety of trees which would spread their sweet smell for the guests sitting in the verandah.
Next to the sitting area were two rooms with huge wooden doors ( with some carvings on the doors) where we used to play up and down all the time.Then there was vast open space next to the room where there were guava trees and some other flowering plants, which basically served as a lawn in between the rooms and the kitchen.Next to the kitchen was a well where I always wanted to fetch water using a rope, but never got a chance to do so because of my fearsome naani.
Now,all that seems history because with the passing away of my grandpa and people migrating over to the city culture, the house was remodeled and we are only left with these memories to share with our kids.
Memories,which the kiddo can only hear but never experience in reality.But the good thing is, my granny still lives in the same house inspite of my uncle's repeated requests to live with them.Maybe she still recollects the good old days in that house.She very rarely travels and this picture with the kiddo was taken when she came to our house during February this year.

Edited to Add: The kiddo need not wait for year end vacations to see his granny.She's just a phone call away from him : )
